😂 Comedy in Malta

The Manoel runs recurring stand-up nights alongside visiting comedians and a pantomime season — Ali Baba and The Panto of the Opera are both on the calendar. Teatru Salesjan in Sliema carries the rest, including charity nights like StandUp4Strays, and Spazju Kreattiv at St James Cavalier handles the improv end, including the Improvizza! Malta Improv Festival.

Worth knowing when you browse: this category mixes pure stand-up with comic theatre and musicals. Little Shop of Horrors and The Full Monty sit here for the same reason a panto does — the billing is to make you laugh, even though the form is a staged production.

Pantomime is a proper December fixture here rather than an afterthought — a habit inherited from British rule and kept up ever since, with the main productions running from just before Christmas into early January, in English and, increasingly, in Maltese.
