Music From the Sea
The China Cultural Centre (CCC) is hosting a concert to celebrate its 25 years of operation in Malta, featuring the Shanghai Chinese Orchestra. Founded in Shanghai, China in 1952, this ensemble comprises musicians who perform a diverse array of traditional Chinese instruments. The orchestra specializes in playing the erhu (a two-stringed bowed instrument similar to a violin), the bamboo flute, the sheng (a mouth-blown wind instrument with multiple reeds), the ruan (a plucked lute-like instrument resembling the moon in shape), and the zheng (a plucked string instrument akin to a zither).
