JAZZ BRIDGES

This concert brings together Italian and Maltese jazz traditions, showcasing Italian saxophonist Jossy Botte performing with the Angela Vella Zarb Quartet. The program spans both classic jazz standards and modern original works. Jossy Botte is an accomplished Italian saxophonist, clarinetist, composer, and arranger widely recognized as one of contemporary Italian jazz's most distinctive artists. Throughout his career, he has performed at prestigious international venues including the Bergamo Jazz Festival, Jaffa Jazz Festival in Tel Aviv, Piacenza Jazz Festival, Villa Celimontana Jazz Festival in Rome, Boston's Berklee Performance Center, and the Grolsch International Jazz Festival in the Netherlands. Angela Vella Zarb is a vocalist with over 15 years of experience performing with various ensembles including Swing Nuages, The Honeymakers, and the Franco-Maltese group Blue Tangerine. Her performances have taken her across the globe—appearing at the Malta Jazz Festival as well as venues in Sweden, Paris, Italy, Vienna and Beijing. She released her debut solo album, Funny Face, in 2022. For this performance, her backing ensemble includes Karl Galea on guitar, Oliver Degabriele on bass, and Ġuże' Camilleri on drums.
