(FULLY BOOKED) Imqaret u Ġelat
As part of the Student Summer Programme, an interactive culinary experience titled Imqaret u Ġelat takes place on September 5th at 10:00am at the Inquisitor's Palace. Young participants aged 8 and above will engage in a practical workshop devoted to two treasured Maltese delicacies and their compelling cultural background. The session illuminates how imqaret—a name stemming from the Arabic term maqara meaning "filled"—demonstrates Arab influences embedded in Maltese food traditions, alongside ġelat, which represents Malta's historical ties to Sicily and the pre-refrigeration era of ice importation. Under expert guidance, attendees will craft their own servings of these storied treats while learning about the culinary heritage behind them. Participants should bring a container for transporting completed items. Workshop participants should be aware that the activity involves exposure to potential allergens such as wheat, eggs, nuts, and gluten.
