Private Tour of Teatru Manoel – Members’ Event

Heritage Malta welcomes its valued members on Saturday, 7th November, to an exclusive guided exploration of Teatru Manoel, the national theatre situated in Valletta's historic centre. During this engaging morning excursion, visitors will uncover the rich narrative of this venerable European playhouse, where centuries of theatrical performances and musical compositions continue to resonate throughout its ornate galleries. Locally cherished as "Il-Manoel", this Baroque masterpiece was constructed over a mere decade in 1731 and stands among Europe's most remarkable 18th-century theatre structures. Established by Grand Master António Manoel de Vilhena with the vision of providing "honest entertainment for the people", the theatre has functioned as a dynamic venue for cultural and artistic endeavours spanning nearly 300 years. The tour, delivered in partnership with Grand Tour Malta, features artist and accredited guide Jeremy Grech adopting the persona of Monsieur Baroque, whose captivating narrative style and profound knowledge of Malta's heritage illuminate the theatre's multifaceted history with remarkable vitality.
