Guardians of the Night: The Carafa Enceinte Tour

Heritage Malta presents an evening exploration on Friday, June 12th between 7:00pm and 8:30pm, transporting attendees to 1687—the year Grand Master Gregorio Carafa inaugurated construction of the fortification enclosure surrounding Fort St Elmo. Against the backdrop of Valletta's setting sun, participants will learn how this defensive structure integrated the fort into the capital's broader protective system, reinforcing and transforming its strategic importance. The event examines the architectural heritage of Fort St Elmo's distinctive bastions and walls, documenting its military development across centuries from the Knights of St John through World War II. Admission is obtainable via online booking HERE as well as at all Heritage Malta locations, with each ticket providing a complimentary serving of wine courtesy of Taste History, Heritage Malta's dining initiative. Attendees are encouraged to wear supportive footwear for this historical outing beneath the warm colors of sunset, offering panoramic vistas and expert historical perspectives.
