Blue In The Face - Lucia Seifert
Blue serves as Seifert's foundational territory—functioning simultaneously as a medium of expression, an emotional framework, and a symbolic representation of how familial narratives circle back through generations, with echoes of yesterday perpetually surfacing in today. By rendering the human body, she explores the raw unease inherent in inhabiting her own frame—navigating identities as a daughter, sibling, and person. This engagement with the hue originated during her Fine Art education at Falmouth University, where blue functioned as her pathway reconnecting with Malta via aquatic subjects. Though she eventually departed Cornwall, the oceanic tones persisted in her artistic practice, functioning as an anchor that sustains her examination of how recollection and place interweave.
