Xlendi Tower Open Weekend

The Munxar Local Council and Heritage Malta's Underwater Cultural Heritage Unit are hosting a special weekend celebration at the historic Xlendi Tower on August 15th and 16th, located along Gozo's picturesque south-western shoreline. This two-day public access event allows guests to discover the tower's significant cultural heritage while taking in sweeping vistas across Xlendi Bay. The highlight of the weekend is an innovative Virtual Reality experience that transports visitors on an underwater expedition through the Xlendi Underwater Archaeological Park and an ancient Phoenician vessel. Complementing the digital experience, the tower will showcase a curated collection of submerged archaeological finds, providing a window into the maritime heritage preserved in Gozo's crystalline waters. The seabed surrounding Xlendi reflects countless generations of human presence throughout the history of the Maltese Islands, with extraordinary underwater archaeological remains resting beneath the surface near Ras il-Wardija.
