WreckLife: Where history meets marine life – Members’ Event
Heritage Malta members are being welcomed to attend an exclusive gathering on November 14th, 2026, beginning at 10am at the Malta National Aquarium. The event centers on WreckLife, an ongoing scholarly undertaking managed by Heritage Malta's Underwater Cultural Heritage Unit that investigates how submerged vessels interact with their surrounding marine habitats. Drawing from methods in maritime archaeology, aquatic science, and ecological assessment, this initiative examines the influence of shifting climate patterns and other ecological changes on how sunken cultural sites endure over time. The findings support the creation of preservation methods that safeguard both these archaeological assets and the marine life they have become integrated with, while making information accessible to broader audiences via technological platforms and educational programs. Admission passes can be obtained via internet purchasing or at any Heritage Malta venue or location.
