Portraits without mirrors (FULLY BOOKED)
As part of the Student Summer Programme, a workshop titled Portraits without Mirrors will be held on 23rd July between 10:00am and 11:30am at the Grand Master's Palace, welcoming young people aged 6 and above. This hands-on session delves into historical portraits of Malta's former rulers and examines the strategies they employed to project their image publicly. Following an interpretive walkthrough and group dialogue, attendees will analyse the connections between self-representation, authority, and visual presentation, then contemplate their own identity and desired public perception. Drawing inspiration from the palace surroundings and its artworks, youngsters will engage in imaginative portrait-creation activities and finish by producing a personal contemporary portrait. The cost of participation is €10, which covers entry for one child and one adult companion. Bookings are available via online purchase or at Heritage Malta venues and locations.
