(LOW AVAILABILITY) Josef Kalleya: Sculptor, 1898-1998: His Art, Dreams and Visions Book Launch

Heritage Malta is hosting the official presentation of a groundbreaking book on Friday, July 24th, 2026. The publication, "Josef Kalleya: Sculptor, 1898-1998: His Art, Dreams and Visions," authored by Joseph Paul Cassar, examines the life and artistic legacy of Kalleya (1898-1998), a modernist sculptor and innovative creative force who also worked as a visionary artist, spiritual thinker, and theologian. Cassar's research draws from substantive materials including Kalleya's own artworks, personal writings, recorded conversations with the artist, his archived photographs of sculptures, and various historical records. The study positions Kalleya within the broader context of both international and Maltese artists while establishing his distinctive contributions. This work offers an authoritative, in-depth examination and fresh critical analysis of Kalleya's artistic journey and creative output. The book provides an important framework for engaging with and comprehending Kalleya's legacy more fully, particularly given that numerous pieces from his body of work have been misplaced, damaged, or existed solely as unrealized conceptual visions.
