Ftira Cookalong
As part of the Student Summer Programme, young learners aged 8 and up can join an engaging hands-on session on 18th July between 10:00am and 11:30am at the Inquisitor's Palace. This interactive workshop centres on ftira, one of Malta's most treasured traditional breads, and invites children to explore its rich cultural significance and preparation methods within the palace's distinctive setting. Under the guidance of skilled facilitators, attendees will observe a practical demonstration before crafting their own ftira using authentic ingredients and fillings such as kunserva, bigilla, and other time-honoured toppings. The session also incorporates a straightforward scientific activity illustrating the role of yeast in bread-making. By engaging in activities like mixing, kneading, and flavouring, participants will develop a richer understanding of Malta's food traditions through an enjoyable and interactive experience.
