Migration Rangers (4-12 years)
Spend the day as a Migration Ranger at this complimentary family activity organised by Project Green and BirdLife Malta at the Simar Nature Reserve near Xemxija. Families and youngsters are encouraged to explore the diverse bird species that travel through Malta during their seasonal autumn passage. The Simar Nature Reserve represents a crucial wetland ecosystem in Malta, providing shelter for herons, rails, kingfishers and other transient bird populations, offering an excellent opportunity for children passionate about nature to experience birdwatching firsthand. The programme features structured, participatory workshops that teach young participants about recognising different bird species, understanding migration behaviour and recognising why Malta's ecosystems deserve conservation. There is no admission charge and attendance is welcome without prior reservation. It serves as an affordable family experience perfect for autumn term outings that combines outdoor activity, natural world exploration and educational content. Additional programme specifics will be shared later; monitor Project Green's Facebook presence for forthcoming announcements.
